The holy tour to Where Pyramids born

Sakkara is one of the most important and richest sites in Egypt. It is located on the west bank of the Nile about 20 KMS south of Cairo and is a part of the Old Kingdom Necropolis which extended from Abu Rawash 5 miles north of Giza to Meidum 50 miles south of Giza including Abu Sir, Saqqara, and Dahshur.

In the early dynastic period, the king and the dignitaries had been buried in large tombs hewn in the earth and covered with rectangular Mastabas made of mud bricks but the genius architect Imhotep changed this system and used stone for the construction.
